iPhone app behaves like a server. Apple Watch likes as a client.
There is no need to wake iPhone app except allowing to use location, notification, contacts and terms of service at first launch.
Apple watch app automatically launches iPhone app in background.
There is no problem if you launch iPhone app, push home button and move this app to background then sleep iPhone.
iPhone makes map, Street View, routing, reroute check, all high load tasks are done in iPhone to save battery of Apple Watch.
